How DijoBox works, in writing.

What we do

You write a shopping list. A DijoBox shopper in Greater Gaborone buys it at the supermarket you choose, delivers it to the person you name, and uploads the till receipt. DijoBox is a shopping and delivery service. It is not a money transfer: no cash is paid out in Botswana.

What you pay

• The receipt total, converted to your currency at the mid-market rate shown when you paid. We add no margin to the rate.
• An errand fee per shop, set by the size of the shop on the list's price when you pay, and shown before you pay. It never goes up afterwards, whatever the till receipt comes to. P600 to P999: £15.99 (GBP), 21,99 € (EUR), $24.99 (USD), $35.99 (CAD), $35.99 (AUD). P1,000 to P2,499: £19.99 (GBP), 28,99 € (EUR), $34.99 (USD), $49.99 (CAD), $49.99 (AUD). P2,500 to P4,000: £24.99 (GBP), 37,99 € (EUR), $45.99 (USD), $64.99 (CAD), $65.99 (AUD). The smallest shop we do is P600 and the biggest P4,000.

Prices on the list are estimates. Shelf prices move, so the receipt decides the final amount.

What we reserve on your card

When you order we reserve money on your card for the estimated groceries, plus a 12% buffer, plus the fee. Reserved money is not charged. Once the receipt is uploaded we charge the receipt total plus the fee and release the rest the same day. Your bank decides how quickly the released amount shows on your statement. We never charge more than the reserved amount.

Out of stock

The shopper follows the rule you set: pick something similar, skip it, or ask you first. If you chose to be asked and we do not hear back within 10 minutes, the shopper picks something similar so the delivery is not late, and your order page says so. You never pay for an item that was not bought.

Delivery

You pick a delivery window in Gaborone time. The shopper calls the recipient before delivering. If nobody answers after two calls or the address cannot be found, the groceries go to the nearest DijoBox pickup point and we try again the next morning at no extra charge.

Cancellations and refunds

If the shop cannot be done at all, the reserved amount is released in full and you pay nothing. Tell us about damaged or wrong items at hello@dijobox.com and we refund them within 48 hours.

Something else

You can also ask us to buy up to three things you have found yourself, from any shop in Greater Gaborone, if one person can carry them to a car. You send a photo, the shop and the price on the tag; the shopper checks the thing against your photo before buying it. One order carries up to P2,000 of things, by the prices on the tags. The fee to fetch and deliver from one shop is set by those prices when you pay: up to P999 of things, £15.99 (GBP), 21,99 € (EUR), $24.99 (USD), $35.99 (CAD), $35.99 (AUD); P1,000 to P2,000 of things, £18.99 (GBP), 26,99 € (EUR), $31.99 (USD), $45.99 (CAD), $45.99 (AUD). Each other shop adds £3.99 (GBP), 4,99 € (EUR), $5.99 (USD), $7.99 (CAD), $7.99 (AUD). We reserve the money on your card as above, with a 10% buffer.

We buy exactly what you ask for. Once a thing has been bought as you asked, we cannot return or exchange it, so only ask for something you are sure they want. Clothes and shoes in particular: we buy the size you give us. If we buy something other than what you asked for, tell us at hello@dijobox.com and we replace it or refund it.

First-order offer

Your first order is P50 less. We convert the P50 at the rate fixed when you pay, and take it off when we charge you: the reserved amount is unchanged. It is decided when your order is placed, once per customer and once per card, on your first order that goes ahead. If that order is cancelled, the offer waits for your next one. Monthly repeats do not count as a first order.

Monthly shops

If you switch on a monthly shop we remind you two days before, then reserve money on your saved card again on the day you chose. You can stop it at any time from the order page.

Your account

You sign in with Apple, Google, Outlook, or a one-time code. Keep access to your email and phone secure, because whoever can read your codes can use your account.
